Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Goshen Community Ministries is a Christian NGO trying to educate orphans and others who cannot afford to pay school fees. It also tries to teach parents (especially mothers) who are illiterate to read and write, knowing that if you teach a mother you have taught the community.
We are trying to eradicate illiteracy from the community because this is the source of problems like disease, early marriage, riots etc. We are also trying to address the morals of young people. Once these pupils are in the school, we don’t focus only on the academic part of learning but we try to embed the vocational skills which will enable these pupils to set up income generating projects. We also engage the community in skills training. At the same time we are trying to address poor sanitation which is a source of diseases like cholera and diarrhoea. We teach sanitation practices and and waste management in the form of recycling.
So far we have a acquired piece of land and we have some semi-permanent structures of the school. We are looking for partners to assist us put up permanent structures and also to build a hospital/cinic attached to the school to address the health issues of the community.

What is your project and how will it help?

Goshen Community Ministries is aiming to provide opportunities for many capable pupils who are unable to go to school because of high school fees and to help adults who missed the opportunity to study but are now willing to take up the chance and thus help the community.
This is a project of building a school and a hospital on the existing land.
We believe and trust that:
1. Many pupils will be educated.
2.Many pupils will be rehabilitated morally.
3. Many illiterate parents will be transformed and as a result the community will be transformed.
4.Poverty lines are going to reduce dramatically with the skills imparted to the pupils.
5.Crime rate in the community will reduce .
6. Early and irresponsible marriages will reduces to almost zero and this will also eliminate the infant mortallity rate in the community, due to the fact that the pupils will be engaged in education and these issues are addressed in the school.
7.With a hospital available in the community .diseases will reduce and death rate reduced,as treatment is affordable and immunisations carried out.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Other people can partner with us as :
1. Funders……assist with funds to purchase materials which we can’t make locally like cement,iron sheets.
2.Advisors…we need people to advise us in many respects like fund raising, self sustaining projects to make us self reliant
3. Volunteers to work with us like teachers ,health educators,medical personnel,
craftsmen etc.
4.God fathers.

This being a large project we need to go in phases and we hope to achieve it in three phases.
Phase 1:Ground levelling for storey building and basement floor and modern toilets…………..Us dollars 250,000

Phase 2: first floor (classes) and offices……………..Us dollars 200,000
Phase 3; The hospital building and equipping……………Us dollars 180,000
