The Peace and Hope Trust is a UK based charity with a Christian ethos that works among poor and marginalised communities in Nicaragua. Volunteers working with the Trust are involved in building communal facilities – schools, clinics, vocational centres, laundries, showers and toilets, while other teams help to build community capacity by working with local churches and other groups, and by providing vocational training and help with feeding programmes. The Trust also runs a recycling programme, collecting surplus equipment and shipping it to Nicaragua several times a year. Priorities are medical equipment and supplies for hospitals and clinics, school furniture and vocational equipment. In addition, the Trust has a medical and a nutrition programme.
