Help needed for nursing school and community support programs, Uganda
Requested by
ACCESS ( African Community Centre for Social Sustainibility)Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
ACCESS supports people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans and vulnerable children, and the general population of Nakaseke through community support programs, provision of school fees, the operation of a full-service clinic, and a vocational training program for community health workers and assistant nurses. Our mission is to bring awareness and health education to the community, and to contribute toward the future of Uganda’s youth and the health of the population through our CHW/Nurse assistant training program.
What is your project and how will it help?
We have a strong history of providing much-needed healthcare training in a rural area, and would like to build upon that success by offering a comprehensive nursing program while as well upgrading our training program. In order to upgrade to a nursing school, we have to update our infrastructure by building a classroom block, laboratory, dining hall, kitchen and library. We also have to update our curriculum and training materials. These changes require the purchase of textbooks, training mannequins, desks and chairs, computers, lab supplies and equipment, medical journals and reference material, as well as construction material.
If successful, this project will empower young men and women to become healthcare personnel. Many of our students come from rural areas, and return to those areas to provide invaluable medical service that would not exist without their help.
How can other people partner with you on your project?
We are currently seeking gifts in kind, grants, and donations in order to fund the proposed changes.
Please detail the resources that you need.
