Project to enrol orphan or poor girls in school, Ghana

Requested by

Hope for Girls

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The “HOPE FOR GIRLS” project is for girls in the Krachi-East district of the Volta-North of Ghana. This project is to enable enrollment of girls unable to pay into schools. Besides increasing the access to education, the project will also help reducing teenage pregnancy: Due to poverty, girls are often given into early marriage whiles others fall victim on their own due to losing one or both parents.

What is your project and how will it help?

This project will attempt to enroll girls into nursery, kindergarten, primary, junior high and senior high school. Four hundred girls have been selected across the district waiting to be enrolled. Hundreds of them are for nursery and kindergarten whiles the remaining three hundred are going to be enrolling at the primary, junior high and senior high level. Some of these girls couldn’t continue with their education due to poverty or the death of either one or both parents. These girls will be catered through payments of their school fees, providing school uniforms, footwear, school bags, books, pens, pencils, feeding in school and other needs that can help them complete their education successfully. This project will help reduce female illiteracy, early motherhood when not prepared and teenage pregnancy in the district and the country at large.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

We call on all funding agencies, social investors, fund raising groups as well as advocacy groups worldwide, to cooperate with us, through partnership, in the provision of funds and technical support, to advance the course of humanity. This we can achieve, with your able empowerment and dedication to mankind.

Please detail the resources that you need.

To achieve this fifteen year project, the organization needs an amount of USD100 for the first year and a total of USD800 to sponsor these girls through to the senior high school for the next fifteen years. We also welcome donations in kind such as books, clothing, schoolbags, footwear and other relevant supplies.

    Catherine Cooper says: Hello,

I would like to make a personal donation of school supplies to assist with your work in educating girls in Ghana.

I have used school school supplies in very good to excellent condition, including binder folders, display folders, spiral-bound notebooks and (used, though still in good condition) pencils, pens, crayons, etc.

I would love to be able to help out if you are interested in accepting these goods.

Please let me know if you are interested, and where I can send these items to you in order to reach your students.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Very best wishes,
    Catherine Cooper
