Help to establish an education centre in Uganda

Requested by

Uganda Youth and Women's Effort Fighting AIDS (UYWEFA)

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

UYWEFA’s objectives are to tackle the urgent issue of orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) receiving no basic education and to equip people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs) with the skills necessary to generate a sustainable income. Our project will promote and create access to basic education for people of all ages whose life chances have been diminished as a result of HIV/AIDS. Education will equip them to make something of their lives.

What is your project and how will it help?

Our project will promote and create access to basic education for people of all ages whose life chances have been diminished as a result of HIV/AIDS.
We will provide education directly to 60 OVCs at nursery stage and advocate on behalf of others in higher classes for reduced school fees in local schools. The capacity of the centre will be reviewed after a preliminary evaluation to assess whether it can cater for more students. We already have agreements in place with five local schools to provide bursaries. We aim to cater for around 25 children in the bursary programme.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

By volunteering with us, or by providing financial and material support; by fundraising or by sponsoring and adopting a child.

Please detail the resources that you need.
