The Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DK) or Diakonie Emergency Aid was established with the objective of providing humanitarian aid worldwide during catastrophes. It supports people who have fallen victim of natural disasters, war and displacement and who are not able to cope on their own in the emergency situation — regardless of their colour, religion and nationality. DK’s activities cover the areas of health, non-food relief aid, shelter, water and sanitation, and agriculture. In Azerbaijan, DK has been engaged in agriculture extension projects for internally displaced persons and refugees. This includes the provision of agricultural inputs instead of food to enable individual families to produce food and generate income through the sale of their produce.
