Water For People is an American NGO that helps people in developing countries improve their quality of life by supporting the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programmes. The organisation was established by the American Water Works Association as part of its corporate responsibility p;rogramme.
Water for People works in collaboration with other organisations and groups on the ground, principally with the community where the project is based. The community must be willing to contribute in-kind labour and funding to the project but is also a driving force in planning, implementation, operations, maintenance, and repair. .
