Reading Is Fundamental, UK (RIF) promotes literacy nationwide by providing opportunities for children to choose and keep new books at no cost to them or their families. RIF inspires children to become strong, motivated readers, based on the premise that children who choose reading for pleasure are more likely to use reading for learning. The organisation has since its 1996 inception donated over 750,000 books to a quarter of a million children.
