World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities in the fight against poverty and for social justice. World Vision has been working in El Salvador since 1975. Currently the organisation runs a primary health care programme focusing on children, youths and their families, an education programme which includes the construction of school buildings, a housing and infrastructure programme, and a programme of emergency relief and disaster management. Project Smile provides expert medical care for children, including re-constructive surgery, while the Food Security Programme trains mothers to cultivate vegetable gardens to provide food and a means of income for the family. World Vision also runs an environmental management project.
