Croatian company donates mine clearance machine

In 2006, the Croatian company DOK-ING donated a mine clearance machine to NPA’s mine action programme in Croatia for a period of one year.

On July 12, 2006 the Croatian company for production of robots and machines for special purposes, DOK-ING and Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), which has been conducting mine action activities in Croatia since 2001, signed an Agreement on Donation, whereby DOK-ING gives NPA free of charge a mine clearance machine MV4 for the period of one year. NPA was to use this machine on its mine clearance tasks in Croatia and Serbia, where NPA MAP Croatia, in cooperation with Serbian Mine Action Centre, would open a new mine clearance project in the course of September 2006.

By supporting NPA’s activities in mine action, DOK-ING has showed its determination in solving the mine problem in Croatia as well as in the region. Furthermore, over 90 machines produced by DOK-ING are currently used world-wide in mine and UXO clearance in the USA, Sudan, Angola, Congo, Kenya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Sweden, Croatia and Serbia. Apart from being one of the leading world producers of the mine and UXO clearance machines, DOK-ING is also one of the largest commercial mine clearance companies in South-East Europe and this gesture is a good example of fruitful co-operation and partnership between a commercial firm and an NGO.
