Welthungerhilfe has been working to combat world hunger for over 40 years, and is today one of the largest private organisations working in the area of development cooperation and humanitarian aid in Germany (with operations in over 70 countries, although focus is directed to Africa at the moment). Receiving funding from public and private sources, it conducts projects with local partners, focusing on the areas of agriculture and the environment, water supplies and the strengthening of local humanitarian organisations.
