Caritas Internationalis is a confederation of 162 Catholic relief and development organisations. Caritas Ecuador works to support the poor and needy through its diocesan and parish organisations. It provides emergency and social or humanitarian assistance where needed, but it focuses particularly on facilitating programmes to enable people to participate in their own development and maintain their independence and dignity. To this end, Caritas Ecuador runs training programmes for its workers and volunteers that focus on themes such as social justice and development.
