The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is the UK government department responsible for a range of issues affecting the quality of life in the UK, including climate change, the countryside, the rural economy and sustainable development. The Department is also involved in preparing for emergencies, and in developing policy on food and farming.
