Congo Yetu Initiative “CYI” is a grassroots, non-profit organization of passionate, dynamic, and energetic volunteers working in Goma, Uvira Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). CYI aims to provide support to women and children victims of sexual violence in East of the DRCongo. The volunteers come from many professional and personal backgrounds, from many ages, and from across Canada and the United States as well as from many of the Southern Countries in which CYI works.
CYI members believe in sharing knowledge and creating opportunities for women and children who are victims of war in the DRC, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
Mission
Building lives towards nation transformation through • To empower women and children; • stop violence by promoting the use of effective conflict management and resolution strategies;• To engage the state and non-state parties in developing collaborative approaches towards peace and sustainable development;
• To promote and facilitate democratic good governance, justice, stability, accountability and transparency.
