Unverified non-profit organisation
The World Bank is an international financial institution based in Washington DC, USA, that provides loans to developing countries for capital programs. Its official goal is the reduction of poverty.
In 1993 the World Bank established the Trust Fund for Gaza and West Bank. Since then the World Bank has viewed economic recovery and development of the West Bank and Gaza as underpinnings of the peace process, and has invested over $608 million to the fund. The World Bank’s 2008-2010 Strategy and assistance program specifically focused on the support of the Palestinian Reform and Development Plan. The work program is organized into four pillars: 1) Improving governance and fiscal reform; 2) Supporting human development in health, education and social safety nets; 3) Developing the economy and the private sector; and 4) Strengthening the public infrastructure.
