The Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) is the charitable arm of the Britain Tanzania Society, established with the aim of alleviating poverty in Tanzania through assistance with projects in health, water supply, education and community based self help activities. They tend to allocate funds to the projects of a capital nature trying to ensure that future generations will also benefit, also acting as a catalyst encouraging project sponsors to go on and achieve more. It supports Tanzanian-initiated local development projects that focus on income generation, health, rehabilitation for physically disabled children and young people, water supply and education. Funding is obtained from Society members, charitable trusts, government and official co-funding sources and the charity is run by volunteers.
