Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID)

The Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), or Inter-American Development Bank, was established in 1959 to support economic development and regional integration among Latin American and the Caribbean nations. As the largest and oldest regional development bank, it uses a variety of tools to promote the above aims, such as lending operations, research and knowledge dissemination, and leadership in regional initiatives. The BID is owned by 47 member states; of which 26 are borrowing members.
