Agence Française de Développement (AFD) works on behalf of the French government and contributes to financing development projects in the public and the private sectors through subsidies or concessional loans. Its mission is to finance development according to France’s Overseas Development Assistance policies. AFD supports the development of the private sector through credit and other financial instruments, such as guaranteed loans, which allow resources in local currency to be raised. AFD’s activities are aimed at reducing poverty and inequalities, promoting sustainable economic growth, and protecting “Global Public Goods” of benefit to all humanity.
