Typhoon Haiyan - Nov 2013
Nearly 12 million people have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan, one of the worst disasters to hit the Philippines in years. More than 900,000 people remain displaced, according to the UN.
A national state of emergency has been declared, with Samar, Leyte, Cebu, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and Palawan the worst affected areas.
A number of organisations in the Global Hand community are involved in the relief effort. If you would like to partner with others who are responding, please use the links below.
Responding to Emergencies with Appropriateness, Coordination and Timeliness.
If you have information to contribute, or if you need information you cannot find here, please let us know at enquiries@globalhand.org.
“Partnerships between humanitarian actors and private sector companies should be developed in which the core competencies of both parties are valued and leveraged. Though financial contributions may sometimes be easier for humanitarian actors to accept and use, humanitarian action would benefit significantly from access to the expertise, resources, and global, regional, and local networks of the private sector.”
