Amal Friends of Children Society
Unverified non-profit organisation
Friends of children society (Amal) is a voluntary non-profit national Sudanese Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) established and registered in 1984 to care for children in difficult situations.
Amal have utilized a number of methods for tackling the street children problem including family reunification, open homes, vocational training, psychosexual and residential care. Shifting to community work intervention as a preventive approach for children at risk came both as a plan from Amal, but more as a surviving strategy when the Government banned direct work contact with street children in 1992. Consequently a number of social
centers were erected in urban poor belts around greater Khartoum.
Amal works to ensure that child’s right are implemented targeting children in need of special protection. Amal carries out it’s programs in collaboration with concerned bodies through providing services of prevention, rehabilitation, residential care, awareness capacity building, advocacy, networking and participation with special emphasis of children and community participation to guarantee sustainability.
