The Department for International Development (DFID) is part of the UK Government that manages Britain’s aid to developing countries. Since 1994, DFID has taken a regional approach towards poverty reduction in South America. DFID’s Andes Office, based in Bolivia, is currently working with its principal partners, the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank, on programmes to improve trade policies throughout the region and on HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention.
