Engineering for Change (E4C) is a growing community of engineers, technologists, social scientists, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local community advocates who are passionate about improving quality of life. E4C seeks to enable this growing community to design, apply and share appropriate and sustainable technical solutions to achieve transformational results for humanitarian and global development challenges.
E4C Online Platform launched in January 2011, and provides users with a convenient and diversified way to learn collaborate and share knowledge, leading to enhanced problem solving and impact. E4C users are able to:
- Post challenges to gain insight, perspectives and experience from other E4C community members.
- Work collaboratively and virtually on project teams.
- Utilize a growing, open-source archive of catalogued technical solutions and related information submitted by organizations from around the world.
- Keep updated with news and information related to the nexus of engineering
and global development. - Learn from expert practitioners on applying engineering in developing countries.
- Follow projects of particular interest.
E4C has an impressive Solutions Library, in which a growing collection of cataloged solutions and related information from organizations throughout the world are showcased. These range from garbage-run batteries for rural households in Kenya to water purifying technologies to be used in India.
