LexisNexis
On 13 June 2012, LexisNexis introduced the Human Trafficking Awareness Index (HTA Index) which uses the respected Nexis service to track and analyze the volume of news articles related to human trafficking. It is hoped that the service will provide a valuable tool for campaigners looking to raise awareness of human trafficking on an ongoing basis.
Known by attorneys, students, and academics as a comprehensive database, LexisNexis has also created an online legal resource center, with information about anti-trafficking laws and policies all around the world.
In addition, it provides direct financial support for organizations and events around the world aimed at raising awareness of the existence of human trafficking. Using a licensed collection of almost 6,000 of the most influential news sources from more than 120 countries, the HTA Index highlights emerging trends and patterns of awareness within and across national borders. Activists working to combat human trafficking can use this information to highlight and raise awareness to inform their efforts and gain greater understanding of the news.
LexisNexis have historically supported organizations such as the Somaly Mam Foundation and AEFSIP and publishes the Human Trafficking Handbook, the definitive legal guide to preventing trafficking.
