Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2)

Unverified non-profit organisation

TWC2 is a non-profit organisation in Singapore dedicated to improving conditions for low-wage migrant workers, perhaps the largest group of disadvantaged persons here, numbering about one million out of a total population of nearly six million in the city.

Founded in 2003, TWC2 is led by an Executive Committee comprised mainly of Singapore citizens. They operate with a small number of regular staff and a larger number of unpaid volunteers.

One of the largest operations is the daily free meals programme – The Cuff Road Project (meals.twc2.org.sg), which saw annual expenditures top $400,000. This feeds migrant workers who have lost their jobs while waiting for resolution of their salary or work injury cases, have no income, and are not being taken care of by their employers.

TWCs also has a significant presence digitally on Facebook and via WhatsApp, where they engage primary audience of Bangladeshi and Indian workers, who form the majority of the construction workforce in Singapore.
