The International Organization for Migration (IOM) works with migrants and governments to provide humane responses to various migration challenges. As the leading international organisation for migration, IOM acts with its partners in the international community to assist in meeting the growing operational challenges of migration management, advance understanding of migration issues, encourage social and economic development through migration, and uphold the human dignity and well-being of migrants. IOM in Tajikistan carries out activities in the following areas: capacity building in migration management, border management, counter-trafficking, support for the reintegration of former combatants and their families, assisted returns, disaster preparedness, and voluntary resettlement.
