Human Support Services was established on the 9th of September 1997 as a non-profit, non-governmental organization to address the development needs and challenges of grassroots communities in Nigeria. This was done through the promotion of opportunities that would build the capacity of vulnerable groups and advocate for policies and resources to support equitable development at these levels. The organization started its activities in July 1999 in the following thematic areas : health, entrepreneurial development and governance. Human Support Services is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria (with Registered Charity Number RC No 16,033)

Human Support Services management is made up of four core departments; Programs, Administration, Accounts and Monitoring and Evaluation under the leadership of a Project Director with the supervision of an eight-member board of trustees
