One World Foundation Africa runs activities in both the UK and Uganda. The organisation partners with a number of other organisations such as Bukomero Development Foundation to implement some of its projects.

In UK, they operate a community centre in East London from where they are engaged in several activities aimed at providing support, information and guidance to young people and vulnerable adults in the community. They have successfully delivered several projects that include the following :

Sessions on mental health
Drugs, Alcohol and other illegal substance abuse
Teenage pregnancy, healthy living, and sexual health awareness
ESOL classes, Free IT, support with job search training
Free Support with Online Services
Youth Engagement programmes, and Senior citizen’s social networks, encouraging living well for the most vulnerable in the community.

In Uganda the project is based in a very poor rural area in Uganda, Kiboga District, that between 1981 and 1986 suffered a devastating guerrilla war leaving over 300,000 people dead, in cross fire, and all the social infrastructures destroyed. Our work therefore, is aimed at increasing access to HIV Testing as a gateway to universal access to care and support and reducing stigma, discrimination and the fear of HIV.

In Uganda, The foundation delivers a project in Kiboga District where most of the people and communities suffered a lot between 1981 and 1986, as a result of a devastating guerrilla war which left over 300,000 people dead and all the social infrastructures destroyed. It has a high HIV prevalence at 12-15%, compared to the 6.5% national average. Because of stigma and discrimination, and problems around HIV service delivery, more than 80% do not know their HIV status. Often those with HIV present in the advanced stages of the infection when symptomatic. Therefore, the need for Home Based Care services is on the increase. Over 25% of children in the district are orphaned, due to HIV/AIDS, facing extreme vulnerability, stigma and discrimination.

The work aimed at increasing access to HIV Testing as a gateway to universal access to care and support and reducing stigma, discrimination and the fear of HIV.
