SaySo- which stands for STRONG ABLE YOUTH SPEAKING OUT- is a statewide advocacy program of youth aged 14 to 24 who are or have been in the out-of-home care system that is based in North Carolina. This includes all types of substitute care, including foster care, group homes, and mental health placements.

SaySo’s mission is to work to improve the substitute care system by educating the community, speaking out about needed changes, and providing support to youth who are or have been in substitute care (foster care, group homes, etc).

Every year- SaySo reaches out to thousands of youth in foster care, foster care alumni, LINKS Coordinators, social workers, foster parents, and foster care advocates and allies within local and state governments, as well as other foster care agencies. Through a series of yearly conferences, events and opportunities for youth in foster care, SaySo helps youth with their life within the system of care, as well as transition out of foster care by informing them of services and resources available to them, as well as teach them essential life skills.

SaySo also advocates for Foster Care in the local and state government, by informing legislators of the struggles and trials of living in Foster Care- as well as push for improvements in the system of care.
