PwC employees support skills development programmes for young people
Since 2004, a number of PwC employees have supported unemployed youths on The Prince’s Trust Team Programme, a personal development course.
A group of 25 staff at PwC in the Midlands are involved in an innovative youth-focused programme run by youth charity The Prince’s Trust.
PwC’s volunteers are leading elements of The Prince’s Trust Team programme – a 12-week personal development course giving disadvantaged young people the skills and confidence to find a job. The course is run in collaboration with Bournville College in Longbridge. The young people will also be visiting PwC’s Birmingham office.
PwC volunteers help the youth with CV writing and lead role play sessions on how to give a good interview. In doing so, the young people develop employable skills and improve their career prospects. In 2010, more than three in four young people helped by The Prince’s Trust moved into work, training or education.
As part of the programme, the young people will also be involved in individual and team-building projects and benefit from training in areas like food hygiene, health and safety, job searching, gardening and landscaping.
