Veolia Foundation assists Moroccan children with disabilities to attend school with their peers
The Veolia Foundation, a French environmental organization, has provided financial assistance to Pinocchio, a Moroccan NGO, to assist the integration of children with physical and other disabilities into mainstream education.
Pinocchio is a nonprofit organization which was created with the aim to allow children, who are victims of Downs Syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy, to follow an educational curriculum in public or private schools, where they can rub shoulders with able-bodied children and be inspired to overcome their handicap thanks to the company of friends in their own age group. These children need specialized equipment in order to cope with school.
The grant from the Veolia Environment Foundation was used to purchase standers and walkers for children and adolescents suffering from cerebral palsy and specialized equipment for physical education (trampolines, basketball boards, ping-pong tables), together with playground equipment for the youngest (slides, tunnels, etc.). The equipment will assist over 50 children to attend school in newly created special classes in mainstream schools.
