Fatima Old Age Home aims to be the shelter for the neglected grandparents.
Some of the mothers sheltered in the Home are widows and have been entrusted to the Home by their children, who either do not want to take care of them or cannot take care of them.
The motivation to start Fatima Old Age Home was by Mohammed Abdul Wasif, due to his love and affection he had for his late aging mother for whom he left his career in the Gulf and returned to Hyderabad, India to care for his aging mother in her end of days. Sadly Wasif’s Mother passed away on 18th October 2015.
During his care activities for his mother, Wasif observed that many aging mothers were being despised and neglected, which made him realize the need for a secular old age home for aging mothers where they could age with grace and be provided care in their end of days.
With a capacity of 50, The Old Age Home currently houses 25 aging mothers and 3 other women who lost their normal mental capacity due to violence.
The Home provides Food, shelter, basic medical coverage and clothing for needy aging mothers, as are the much needed care, companionship, emotional support, recreation facilities and activities to overcome social isolation, and to ensure that the resident senior citizens live with respect age with grace and dignity in a secure, compassionate surroundings.
