Mphatso Development Foundation was established in the year 2005 out of the deep compassion for the suffering women, orphans and vulnerable children and its households that took care of them. MDF seeks to mitigate the effects of poverty in the much remote rural communities affecting the target group using a holistic approach involving the whole family. This organization was brought about by among other causes HIV/AIDS, adverse climatic changes such as global warming, drought, deteriorating economic conditions in the country, political policies and governance etc.

Objectives:

o To improve primary health care and support and contribute to the reduction of the spread of HIV/AIDS for strategic groups: widow/grandmothers, youths, OVC, PLWHA and high risk groups such as people with disabilities, Albinos and fishermen.
o Contribute to the improvement of the availability of adequate clean and safe drinking water, sanitation services and promote hygiene practices in schools and communities in order to reduce diarrhea diseases
o Contribute to the improvement of the provision of care, support and access to basic education for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in schools and communities.
o To promote environmental regeneration, protection, conservation and sustainable land management
o To empower women in rural communities by increasing their household incomes through sustainable Livelihoods, Micro Enterprise Development, Savings in Internal Lending Communities (SILC).
o Promote food security through sustainable agriculture
