SUN RAYS OPEN SCHOOL

Unverified non-profit organisation

Sun Rays Open School is a Christian centred community education initiative based in Bunda District, Mara Region, Tanzania. Established in 2015, our core focus is providing accessible and affordable education, life skills, vocational skills and moral and spiritual development to orphans, vulnerable children and young people who face barriers to accessing formal education.

Sun Rays currently supports around 70 children and young people through education and related support. Our work includes classroom learning, examination preparation, life-skills development, vocational training, food support and mentoring. We operate with a small and committed team of teachers and volunteers, working closely with local communities and partners.

Our particular strengths are our close relationship with vulnerable children and families, our community-based approach, our Christian values, and our ability to identify local needs and respond directly. We have experience working with local and international supporters and are developing partnerships to strengthen education, health, economic empowerment and environmental initiatives for vulnerable communities.

Our long-term vision is to expand our capacity, improve learning facilities and resources, and create sustainable opportunities that help children and young people break the cycle of poverty and build a better future.
