Climate Alert and Forest Conservation Trust
Unverified non-profit organisation
Climate Alert and Forest Conservation Trust (CAFCOT) is a networking, domestic non-profit making organisation that aims at conserving and restoring degraded natural forests, protecting critical biodiversity hot spots through participating in tree planting activities, community sensitization, biodiversity offset training, environmental education and creating general awareness about climate change. The Trust is currently operating in the Albertine graben to empower forest adjacent communities on how to sustainably manage, protect natural resources, and promote sustainable livelihoods and sustainable environmental conservation.
Climate Alert and Forest Conservation Trust (CAFCOT), has strategies to address deforestation and forest degradation in the Albertine rift which include :
Fighting deforestation and planting trees, so that forests continue to provide clean water and air, improve agricultural productivity, slow the rate of climate change, counter desertification, and support economic growth through rehabilitation of fragmented natural forests within farm lands
Protecting biodiversity, so that people don’t lose essential goods and services generated by intact and functional ecosystems in the sense that species aren’t lost to extinction through Integrated human – wildlife conflict management.
Mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change, countries can grow without harming the environment while strengthening their resilience to warmer temperatures and weather shocks. We hope to achieve this through integrated climate smart agriculture practices in the communities.
Efficient energy cooking methods, which uses low fuel, saves energy for quite long time. Among these strategies are energy saving stoves, rocket lorena cooking stoves.
