Manak Community Health Organization
Unverified non-profit organisation
Sierra Leone has a long struggle with some of the world’s worst healthcare outcomes, including a maternal mortality epidemic in which a woman’s lifetime risk of dying in pregnancy or childbirth is 1 in 20. Extreme poverty prevents most families from accessing health care and most often the care they need is not available, given the country’s severe shortage of trained clinicians, health infrastructure, and medical supplies.
Manak Community Health Organization is a 501c non-profit healthcare organization that strives to bridge health equity by improving access to healthcare in the most remote areas within Sierra Leone. This is done through community outreach programs and medical missions. The team provided chronic care (hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, GERD, post-CVA management), acute care, and pain management, as well as social needs to a total of two hundred patients at no cost.
The need however is greater than our available resources. The goal is to turn these medical missions into permanent free healthcare delivery systems to improve overall patient outcomes. The Organization requires adequate resources to serve three different communities to bring hope through free healthcare delivery while addressing social determinants of health within some of the most vulnerable and least accessible communities in Sierra Leone.
