Health Leads

Unverified non-profit organisation

Health Leads is a programme that operates in hospitals in a number of states in the USA. Interdisciplinary teams consisting of volunteers and experienced physician-advocates and other health care providers work together to meet the needs of vulnerable families.

In clinics where the Health Leads programme operates, physicians can “prescribe” food, housing, health insurance, job training, fuel assistance, or other resources for their patients as routinely as they do medication. Located in waiting rooms and staffed by college volunteers, the Health Leads volunteers “fill” these prescriptions by connecting patients with key resources.
