HRIF was established in 1997 with main goal to support people in need worldwide. Especially those who live in an emergency area after war,
refugee situation, earthquake, floods etc. HRIF has been involved in over 15.000 humanitarian transports worldwide since 1993.
HRIF’s focus is on Gift in Kind (GIK), transport and distribution of aid goods. For this purpose HRIF works as service provider with many relief organisations worldwide.
In short HRIF collects GIK from companies, institutions, organisations etc. Together with local partners they investigate which goods can be used in their distribution projects. HRIF deals with local customs and authorities about import rules and regulations. The GIK is distributed amongst children, women, elderly people and other vulnerable groups. Main items are clothing, shoes, blankets, food, medical equipment, medicines, furniture etc.
The magnitude of shipping and distributing relief goods in emergency and development project is substantial. Receivers of aid many times told HRIF about receiving aid as a sign of hope in their desperate situation.
