Women’s Centers International (WCI) is an American NGO that develops community-based centres for women affected by chronic poverty and war. The centres provide training programmes that empower members to identify their potential and to create progressive and sustainable life and work options. Each centre works with local partners. WCI provides active mentoring to ensure a self-sustaining process of individual and community transformation. The organisation’s current focus is East Africa.
Baraka Center in Nairobi serves 462 women living in slums with four core programmes: Entrepreneur and Leadership Training, Literacy Training and Sexual Violence Response and Health Education.
