Safer Future Youth Development Programme (SFYDP) is a National non-profit NGO established in 1993, with the specific focus on empowering youths, especially the most vulnerable, through community-based appropriate technology transfer. SFYDP works with communities to deliver sustainable and innovative WASH services in schools, communities and health institutions for the improvement of health and education outcomes. Gender equality, youth empowerment is core to our approach.
SFYDP’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions for improved health programme is mainly concentrated in Port Loko and Moyamba Districts. Its youth empowerment technology transfer program and innovative solar photovoltaic technology for improved WASH and health services are nationwide.
SFYDP has been one of UNICEF’s partners in Sierra Leone for community-based solar water pumping technologies in health centres and schools, and for the installation, repairs and maintenance of vaccine fridges (cold chain systems) in health facilities nationwide. SFYDP has significantly improved its technical and management capacity on WASH.
The Organisation is specialized in three key areas; innovative community based solar photovoltaic technology, civil and water resources engineering and community empowerment with focus on youth. SFYDP therefore has a cadre of well-versed team of specialist in the three key focus areas; solar photovoltaic installations, construction engineering and borehole drilling.
