HEDECS (Health Development Consultancy Services)

HEDECS is a women-led, apolitical, non-profit, non-sectarian, non-governmental organization headquartered in Bamenda in the North West Region of Cameroon. Since 2006 and legalized in 2008 HEDECS’ community development specialists, researchers, educators, laboratory technicians and project managers have empowered community members to improve their health through health and livelihood initiatives, education and services. To-date HEDECS has been awarded several funding to undertake many interventions.
MISSION
To improve the health and livelihood of communities through sustainable interventions.
STRATEGY
Strengthening our capacities to foster partnership and network with private, public, local, national and international organizations and building sustainable solutions in all of our interventions.
HEDECS main objective is to improve the health and livelihoods of Cameroon citizens. It does this by the complementary strategies of: 1) preventing disease and injury and 2) Mitigating the impact of disease and injury. To implement those strategies, HEDECS uses cross-cutting interventions in Advocacy, Physical and Social Infrastructure and Development, Education, Income-Generation, Research and Access to Care
Core Strategic Objectives
- Promote disease prevention, reduce morbidity and mortality through our interventions
- Promote and defend the Rights and Freedom of disadvantaged and marginalized groups at the grassroots level
- Empower the disadvantaged communities for poverty mitigation, with knowledge, skills and resources for sustainable and viable secure livelihood
- Ensure greater involvement and visibility of the youths and rural woman in decision making
- Advocate for a change in policies through research and evidence based practices

HEDECS targets to serve disadvantaged persons irrespective of their faith, culture, and locality in Cameroon. Among these are;
• People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA)
• Marginalized and vulnerable groups
• Widows
• Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC)
• Prisoners
• Destitute Women
• Teenage mothers
• Youths
• Rural communities
