The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) aims to promote and strengthen national capacities for managing natural disasters in Sri Lanka. The centre’s activities include awareness and educational programmes on disaster management, relief, rehabilitation and construction work, national disaster planning and legislation and operation of a database of information on disasters. DMC also co-ordinates disaster-related public bodies, foreign agencies and non-governmental organizations.
