UN Women (former UNIFEM) is UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. It provides financial and technical assistance to innovative programmes and strategies to foster women’s empowerment and gender equality. UN Women in India strives to ensure the creation and implementation of pro-women laws, policies and programmes which translate into real opportunities for women and girls to exercise their rights as equal citizens of India.
