Children of the Andes is a UK registered charity dedicated to supporting Colombia’s most vulnerable children. By working in partnership with local NGOs they aim to improve the lives of children who have struggled in the face of the long-standing armed conflict, poverty, disability, displacement and neglect. As well as offering immediate relief to these children, they also focus on promoting longer-term, sustainable development through a range of education, healthcare, protection and peace-building initiatives. All of their projects encourage the active participation of children in building a better future for themselves, their community and the next generation. The organization has also developed an educational model for working children, who represent the largest group of children excluded from education in Colombia. The project has helped hundreds of children move away from child labor and into formal education.
