Latvia Humanitarian Customs Regulations
This document was submitted in response to a questionnaire distributed by Global Hand regarding humanitarian customs information. It provides regulations for importing humanitarian aid into Latvia.
Required Documents
- The list of received goods (cargo forwarding waybill, containing cargo specification), where the value of goods is declared.
- Wrapping certificate
- Security certificate or producers declaration of equipment, mentioned under the code 9018 in Combined Nomenclature (Instruments and appliances used in medical, surgical, dental or veterinary sciences, including scintigraphic apparatus, other electromedical apparatus and sight-testing instruments, as well as electrodiagnostic apparatus (including apparatus for functional exploratory examination or for checking physiological parameters)).
Prohibited Goods
- Goods liable to excise tax
- coffee, alcohol, motorcars
- Explosive materials
- Arms and munitions, their parts and accessories
Tax Exemption
Humanitarian aid consignments are exempted from customs duties.
PreShipment Application
PreShipment application should be addressed to the Ministry of Finance.
Monetary Valuation
Monetary valuation is required on the consignment as a whole and for the family groups of goods.
Restriction
Questions on food-safty and non-food consumer goods safty should be addressed to Sanitary Border Inspection of Food and Veterinary Office of Latvia. Tel. +371 7027061
Other Information
- Humanitarian aid consigns are goods indicated asHumanitarian aidin the invoice.
- Humanitarian aid consignees are state or governmental institutions. Religious and public organisations, operating in such areas as education, culture, science, social sector, charity, sport, health and environmental protection, can be consignees of humanitarian aid after they receive the permit from Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Latvia.
- Private persons and business companies cannot be the humanitarian aid consignees.
