Esperanza Initiative on Disability is a voluntary, not for profit non-governmental organization established in 2019 by women of different disability categories including Physical, Sensory and Psychosocial disabilities and Parents of Children with Disabilities from Iganga District, on realization that Women and Girls with disabilities face heightened discrimination on account of gender, health discrimination and disability, which limits their access to social services. So the organization focuses on elevating lives of persons with disabilities by redressing existing challenges and mitigating future threats to disability with focus on economic empowerment and livelihoods for persons with disabilities and their families, water, sanitation and hygiene, Health and nutrition and gender based violence.

EID Uganda envisions Effectively Inclusive society for all in which access to services is prioritized.

The mission is to ensure adequate and equitable services accessible by women and girls with disabilities and other vulnerable groups with respect.

Our overall goal is to improve the quality of life and social well-being of Women and Girls with Disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in Uganda.

EID’s Empowerment Program focusses on advocacy for improved access to services, resources (ownership and control), participation in democratic and governance processes, economic opportunities and respect for their human and health rights.
