The Eurasia Foundation is a privately managed grant-making and operating organisation dedicated to funding programs that build democratic and free market institutions in the twelve New Independent States (NIS) of the former Soviet Union. The Foundation was established with funds from the US Government Agency for International Development (USAID) and gives grants annually to local and US based organisations working in the region. Grants average US$21,000 and applications can be made through local offices.
