World Health Organization (WHO) - Uzbekistan
Unverified non-profit organisation
The World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations specialised agency for health, aims to coordinate international health activities and to help governments improve health services. Health is being defined in WHO’s Constitution as state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely absence of disease or infirmity. WHO established its country office in Uzbekistan in 1995. It currently has 5 key technical programmes: HIV/AIDS/sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, mental health, vaccine-preventable diseases and immunization, and maternal and child health. WHO works with the relevant departments in the Ministry of Health through national counterparts, to ensure the highest possible degree of national ownership.
