Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) - Guatemala
Unverified non-profit organisation
The FAO was founded in 1945 with a mandate to raise levels of nutrition and standards of living, to improve agricultural productivity, and to better the condition of rural populations. Today, FAO is one of the largest specialised agencies in the United Nations system and the lead agency for agriculture, forestry, fisheries and rural development. An intergovernmental organisation, FAO has 187 member countries plus one member organisation, the European Community. In crisis situations, FAO works in conjunction with the World Food Programme and other humanitarian agencies to help people rebuild their lives.
In its efforts to improve food security in Guatemala, the FAO supports a comprehensive strategy that seeks to reduce poverty levels and care for the management of natural resources.
