Ukraine - March 2022

As the crisis in Ukraine unfolds, we stand ready to help connect those supporting humanitarian needs on the ground with those wanting to help.

Want to help but not sure how?

Donate goods

Companies with quality, new items to donate

The following items have been listed as priority items by NGOs on the ground in the region, if in new condition.

  • Clothing
  • Footwear
  • Bedding
  • Toiletries and hygiene items
  • Dried food (with at least 1 year’s date)
  • Sleeping bags
  • baby products (inc. powdered milk)

If you have quality, new items to donate in the above categories, we can connect you with experienced partners who are able to place it where most needed. The goods should be new.

Offer new goods here (Please indicate as you make your offer that you would like the goods to be used in responding to the Ukraine crisis.)

Email us on enquiries@globalhand.org to discuss opportunities to partner.
In the UK, you can reach us on etienne@cgvuk.org or + 44 20 3389 7177.

People with secondhand items to donate

Unfortunately, we are unable to help connect you to an organisation to donate your secondhand goods.

You might like to search locally for a group near you that is collecting items and has the ability to transport them to Europe.

At this time, however, many community groups in the UK who were previously collecting items have found that they have received enough goods, and are no longer collecting at all. Many that are still receiving some items are no longer receiving second hand clothing.

If you would like to donate secondhand items, it’s best to (in this order):
1. Find a local charity that may be collecting
2. Ask what they need so you can give what is most useful
3. Check they can transport the goods to Europe before donating to them.

It’s best to always contact them first before dropping off goods, and to only donate what they need and can transport to Europe.

Alternatively, you could donate your quality secondhand items to a local charity shop, where the funds raised from selling the items can be used to support that charity’s work responding to the crisis in Ukraine and surrounding countries.

Help transport items to Europe

Are you offering to drive your own goods, or those of another organisation, to Europe?

Our partners with logistical expertise and years of experience sending humanitarian aid from the UK to Europe are advising against individuals or community groups exporting/driving humanitarian goods into Europe at the moment. This is because of the difficulty in handling the paperwork to clear customs. The process is very difficult, and best handled by organisations already experienced in this area.

If you have already have new goods you are offering to drive, you might consider donating them through our website to our experienced partners. Offer new goods here

If you don’t yet have goods but are wanting to collect items and then drive them, please review the list on this page of most needed items. You can contact our trusted partners through the links below to see what specific new goods you could collect for them.

If your goods are secondhand, you can search the internet for a group near you that may still be collecting items and then check if they themselves have the ability and experience to transport them to Europe.
