British Gas supports Save the Children improve the living conditions and lives of children in Britain

In 2004, Save the Children UK and British Gas partnered to launch the ‘Help Yourselves’ scheme, a funding project designed to make one million homes in Britain warmer, safer and more comfortable. Since then, over 180 grants of £1,000 or £3,000 have been given to groups of vulnerable children and young people to do something proactive to make their lives and communities better.

‘Help Yourselves’ was created especially for young people. It provides the opportunities and advice they need to change and improve their quality of life by being actively involved in making changes to the communities in which they live. Save the Children and British Gas created this project in order to help young people work together in partnership with adults to make their communities a better place to live.
